Utmaningen
The roof at Lindholmen in Gothenburg combines a solar PV installation with an exposed roof surface where snow and ice can pack unevenly during winter. Waiting until snow is on the roof is too late – at that point, action becomes more expensive, more dangerous, and more intrusive for tenants. The need was clear: proactive snow protection that provides actual measurements instead of estimates.
Lösningen
On a sunny spring day in April, NevoSens snow sensors were installed on the roof, wirelessly connected to a Gateway. The sensors measure the snow load continuously and send data directly to the portal, where the operations team can track the load in real time.
Alarm thresholds were configured to match the roof's design snow load, with separate levels for early warning and critical load. The solution coexists seamlessly with the existing solar installation and requires no ongoing roof inspections.
Resultatet
Platzer Fastigheter now has a complete snow load monitoring system in place – months before the first snowfall. This is what responsible property ownership looks like: act during the summer, sleep safely during the winter.
