Utmaningen
The roof of the ICA property in Gothenburg combines an extensive solar PV installation with large exposed surfaces where snow and ice can pack unevenly. For a responsible property owner, it is critical to protect both the structural capacity and the safety of customers, staff and tenants moving in and around the property.
Relying on manual inspections and visual estimates means guesswork – and guesswork costs money. The need was a system that delivers real measurements in real time, so snow removal and actions can be planned based on data rather than gut feeling.
Lösningen
Västkustens Konstruktionsbyrå AB installed the NevoSens snow sensor on the roof, wirelessly connected to a Gateway. The sensor measures the snow load continuously and sends data directly to the portal, where the operations team can follow the load in real time – around the clock.
Alarm thresholds were configured to match the roof's design snow load with separate levels for early warning and critical load. The solution coexists seamlessly with the existing solar installation and requires no ongoing roof inspections.
Resultatet
ICA Fastigheter now has a complete snow load monitoring system in place with early warnings, less guesswork and lower operating and maintenance costs. This is what responsible property ownership looks like – proactive snow protection that brings confidence to decision-making, year after year.
